Purim Party This Saturday Night!
Be happy! It's Adar! This Saturday night is Purim! Please read the schedule below carefully; it has CHANGED since the Purim e-mail went out last Thursday!
We will have early mincha this Shabbat. It will be our last one until next winter. Shabbat ends at 6:14. That gives everyone time to change into costumes and return to the shul for maariv promptly at 6:45 pm. We will reach the megillah-reading by 7:30 pm. The party begins immediately after the service.
It is critically important that you arrive in costume. There once was a man who came without a costume. He won first prize. It was very embarrassing.
(Be happy. It's Adar.)
Nechama Fleishman will propose and lead games for the younger children. Rabbi Yaffe will help prepare stop/go signs for the reading of Megillat Esther, and will suggest activities for the older children.
Nechama Cheses will arrange the costume parade judging, Tsila Sloane will organize prizes for the children, and Rabbi Weinberg will grow a beard.
Many thanks to Steve Cantor for arranging the purchase of hamantashen, Eyal Cohen for arranging the purchase of snacks and drinks, and Dafna Hayman for arranging the background music.
Binyamin Fleischman – a man we have learned to trust with the most mission-critical tasks – has the crucial job of making sure we have enough "material" for the L'chaims.
Our scholar-in-residence this year is the ever-useless Rabbi Schmerl of Chelm, a man whose vast irrelevance is only exceeded by his immense confusion.
And that's when he's sober!
